What are the operating procedures for outdoor high-voltage disconnect switches?

Pre-operation preparations
Implement a two-person operation protocol: the operator must wear compliant insulating gloves and boots, and a supervisor must be present throughout the process; solo operation is strictly prohibited.
Double-check that the series circuit breaker is fully open; verify that the remote monitoring signals match the on-site mechanical indicators to ensure the load current has been completely interrupted.
Inspect the equipment's exterior: ensure porcelain insulators are free of cracks, transmission components are free of binding or deformation, and the "five-prevention" interlocking system is functioning correctly; unlocking operations require dual-signature approval from the person in charge of the shift.
Use a compliant voltage detector rated for the appropriate voltage level to verify the absence of residual voltage on both sides of the disconnect switch; confirm that ambient humidity is ≤85% and wind speed does not exceed Beaufort scale 8; operation is prohibited during thunderstorms.

Closing operation steps
Remove the operating mechanism's locking pin; stand to the side of the equipment, away from the potential arc path; unlock the mechanism with one hand while holding the insulating operating rod with the other.
For single-pole disconnect switches, operate in the sequence of closing the outer phases first, followed by the middle phase; perform the action swiftly and decisively, avoiding excessive force at the end of the stroke to prevent contact damage.
After closing, verify that the moving and stationary contacts are fully engaged, the contact insertion depth is ≥18mm, and the contact resistance meets equipment standards; confirm there are no abnormalities such as overheating or discharge.
Insert the locking pin to secure the operating mechanism and confirm that the mechanical indicator shows the "closed" position.
